Fall is here! And with it comes a whole host of new things to do and new experiences to have in Nashville. From music to cultural festivals and a lot of family-friendly events, there’s plenty to explore. Here are just a few highlights to add to your calendar!
What: A cultural festival full of great food, live German music, beer gardens, a play area with face painting and more for the kids and a crafts fair! Best of all, general admission is free. There are parades, a 5K, a beer slide and a pup parade full of costumed pooches!
When: October 5th through 8th, 2017
Where: 998 5th Avenue N, Nashville. (Though the festival spans about 10 blocks)
What: A festival celebrating cultures and more from people all over the world. It’s free to attend and will feature music and dance on five stages, a marketplace of hand-crafted and imported items, great cultural food and an area for kids. Don’t miss the Global Village, where people will play traditional music, speak their culture’s language, and wear their culture’s traditional clothes!
When: October 7th, 2017
Where: Centennial Park, Nashville
What: A Chinese festival focusing this year on Dim-Sum (bite sized or tiny portions of food like dumplings and more!) This evening of delicious Chinese food will be a set-menu event including 15 varieties of Dim-Sum and traditional Moon Cakes.
When: October 8th, 2017, 5:30-8:00 PM
Where: Lucky Bamboo China Bistro, 5855 Charlotte Pike #B, Nashville
Music & Entertainment
What: An unscripted night of conversation between Cooper and Cohen. The two men are longtime friends and experienced in their respective fields of journalism and talk show hosting. They’ll have an uncensored talk about pop culture, current events, interview each other and take audience questions. It promises to be entertaining and engaging!
When: October 6th, 2017, 8:00 PM
Where: Ryman Auditorium, 116 Fifth Avenue North, Nashville
What: The Grand Ole Opry is a recurring special concert series that always promises to be unique, entertaining and memorable. Big-name stars, local musicians and indie groups all team up to take the stage during these shows. In October, names like Brad Paisley, Hunter Hayes, Steven Curtis Chapman and more will be featured. Check out the website to see as artists are confirmed and the calendar is updated.

Where: Grand Ole Opry, 2804 Opryland Drive, Nashville
Nashville is known as Music City for good reason – there are always a large number of concerts happening at the many venues and parks throughout the area. Artists like Ed Sheeran, NEEDTOBREATHE, Katy Perry, Vance Joy and more will be performing in Nashville throughout the month. What: A family-oriented festival with local musicians, family and child yoga classes, food trucks and arts and crafts for sale. Essentially, this will be all the fun and excitement of a typical festival, but aimed at children and families! There will also be activities like a scavenger hunt, arts and crafts stations, a pageant, face painting and more.
When: October 14th, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Where: Centennial Park, Nashville
What: A great chance for new parents or parents of tiny ones to get a day at the art gallery without worrying about disturbing other visitors! This day is all about babies. Bring a baby carrier and peruse the artwork, which will be hung at eye-level for the little ones! There will be a private area available to breastfeeding moms and for diaper changes. This tour is free and recurs monthly, so if you can’t make it in October, check out their events to see when it’s happening next.
When: October 20th, 2017 11:15-12:00 PM
Where: Fisk University Art Galleries, 1000 Seventeenth Ave, Nashville
What: A portion of the ARTlab classes are free and aimed at young creators ages 11-18. Experiment in different art forms like sculpture. The materials are provided and there are three different sessions available. Your young artist interested in more? There are more ARTlab sessions available for $30 for non-members, but the spots are limited – be sure to register ASAP!
