Summer is coming to an end, which means we’re right in that sweet spot for exploring. The weather is cooling down, but still warm and welcoming for outdoor excitement. The kids have plowed through the beginning of school and we’re ready for a holiday weekend. Labor Day weekend is the perfect time to enjoy some of the awesome entertainment Nashville has to offer. For your planning convenience, here are a few of the awesome events happening over Labor Day weekend – looks like your calendar is filling up as you celebrate the end of a Nashvlle summer!
Food & Drink
What: A food tastings crawl of at least eight restaurants sponsored by the Tennessee Immigrant & Refugee Rights Coalition. Crawlers will sample food from around the globe. If you sign up for the Curated Food Tour, you’ll also get a tour guide, charter bus transportation, adult beverages and exclusive stops!
When: September 2nd, 2017
What: A festival celebrating soul food and live entertainment. VIP tickets will get you guaranteed up-close seating near the entertainment, while general admission requires you bring your own seating. Food, beverages and far more will be available for purchase. Don’t miss out!
When: September 3rd, 2017
What: Run by the Tennessee Latin American Chamber of Commerce, this is a delicious opportunity to support Latino-owned businesses in the area. An entry reservation of $20 will get you five empanadas and a soft drink, with additional drinks and snacks available for purchase. You’ll also get to vote on the audience favorite empanada.

Fun for Families
What: A movie night under the stars at the Nashville Zoo! Not only does this night feature a film on a giant inflatable screen, but there will also be games, crafts, music, and access to a carousel and zipline. For members of the Nashville Zoo, the event is free – for non-members, it’s included in the day’s admission OR tickets are available for $6 per person.
When: September 1st, 2017
What: A fun day for children of all ages – tickets include a 25-minute ride with Thomas the Tank Engine, as well as a day full of Thomas-themed fun like videos, activities and more.
When: September 2nd through September 10th, 2017
What: A fireworks show over Percy Priest Lake at the Nashville Shores waterpark. A great way to wrap up a long day at the waterpark for your younger family members! Sit back, relax and enjoy the sparkling fireworks overhead.

What: An “evening glow” festival – meaning that the balloons will be lit up, but stay tethered and will not launch – this event promises to be full of beautiful hot air balloons, family-friendly fun, good music and food trucks! The admissions are limited to 5,000 tickets though, so get yours soon!
When: September 16th, 2017
What: An Opry show features eight or more artists, unlike a typical concert. It gives the audience a chance to get a taste of each artist’s style while also giving newcomer artists the chance to share the stage with superstars. It promises to be a night unlike any other – and one you won’t soon forget!
When: August 29th, 2017
What: A free live music festival at Public Square Park. Crowds gather on the lawn of the park to watch music acts. The lineup for Labor Day weekend is packed! There will also be concessions available as well as a beer bar, rum bar and wine bar – something for all ages!

Arts & Culture
What: Productions of Antony & Cleopatra and The Winter’s Tale are both running during Labor Day weekend. These showings are free, but a suggested donation of $10 is appreciated. Find out more about what to expect here.

What: A collection of 36 period costumes from the widely popular and acclaimed series Downton Abbey. In addition to viewing the costumes, you can also purchase tickets to an English tea to complete your experience!
